Our ride starts crossing the Rivel Azul and entering the native forest of cypresses and coihues, before following a mountain trail up through the dense woods of the Motoco Mountain until we reach a natural rock formation with stunning panoramic views of the valley, the lake and the magnificent Tres Picos (Three Peaks) mountain across the water. We then head back down and across the river before returning by the lake shore.

Pampa de Fernández

This ride again takes us across the river Azul and heads west on a mountain trail which leads to the Chilean border. We continue on to the Motoco mountain viewpoint, through a centuries-old native Coihue forest and finally to a clearing indicating the site of old settlement used by one of the first families who arrived in this valley from Chile. A short rest under the shade of the old fruit trees and poplars before heading back.

Currumahuida Mountain Viewpoint

We head east along the border of the National Park towards the Currumahuida mountain. Trail ride goes through native cypress forests with beautiful panoramic views throughout. We ride up to a clearing which marks the place of an old settlement. A little further on we come to a stunning viewpoint from which we can see the river Azul flowing into the lake and the western inlet of Puelo Lake, all framed by the snow-capped mountains towards Chile.

Arroyo Las Lágrimas
6 hours

Horse ride to Las Lágrimas stream. We cross the river Azul and take a mountain trail which leads to the border with Chile. This is an ancient mountain crossing used by the native inhabitants and the first settlers of this valley to cross to and from Chile. The natural beauty of this place has remained unchanged over the centuries, evidenced by the majestic centuries-old Coihue forests. We continue until we head back down to the lake and along the shore to the Gendarmerie´s border post. We stop for lunch on the shore where the Las Lagrimas stream flowns into the lake. Time for a well-earned rest and to explore the place before heading back. Lunch included.
